Dance Lessons – Learn These Styles First

When learning to dance people often immediately think of one of two things, the typical childrenâs dance school type classes such as ballet, tap, and jazz, or formal dance instructions for adults that typically center around ballroom type dancing including such forms as the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, or Rumba.
When considering dance as a formal occupation or even as an enjoyable pastime the best way to start is with ballet. Ballet is actually the center of all dances and can be incorporated into any style from the elegant ballroom types to hip hop street dancing.
All dancing styles will help to develop balance, dexterity, and grace and also give the dancer a sense of camaraderie with fellow participants and an active and socially engaging way to develop their personal lives.
While there are many styles of dance that are interpretive such as African and hip hop, most other forms of dance require a structured design and the learning of particular steps and movements. The usual progression from ballet to other forms is seamless and easy as ballet gives the dancer a backdrop to base all of the other movements on.
Many enthusiasts of the sport of ballroom dancing have a formal background in ballet and jazz. Using the styles and movements of the classical dance arts help to enhance the steps in ballroom dancing giving them a more elegant flair.
Competitions for ballroom dancing can be found globally all through the year and more and more competitions for other forms of dancing are gaining in popularity as well.

Ecstasy – Class a
Author: admin
Ecstasy (Eâs)
Ecstasy (Eâs) is a popular drug among raves, parties and other such occasions. Eâs are class A drug! This makes it illegal, to carry, buy, sell or manufacture the drug. Possession of the drug can get you up to 7 years in prison, dealing Eâs can get you life and an unlimited fine.
Long-term effects:
In general, the long term effects arenât too serious⦠Saying that, they can cause (after subsequent use) – memory loss, depression, personality change and bowel issues. This drug can leave you with, heart, liver and kidney problems.
Short-term effects:
Anxiety, panic attacks and confused or delirious periods are the focused short-term effects of Eâs and can all prove fatal, with over 200 UK deaths since 1996! The drug is often taken during dances or parties as it gives you a buzz and supplies energy.
Eâs (in their pure form) are crumbles of white crystalline powder, known as MDMA. On the streets, Eâs come in the form of pills and powder, generally smoked, swallowed or snorted. A common mistake with Eâs is the assumption that because the drug has not kicked in, it wonât. It will, but taking double the dose, gives you double the side effects to deal with! Eâs however, are very rarely pure. Mixed with drugs such as caffeine and speed as theyâre cheaper to make.
Below are a set of questions I put forward to the msn automation âTalk to Frankâ; http://www.talktofrank.com/article.aspx?id=1624
What other names are there for ecstasy?
Street names for drugs can vary around the country. E, pills, brownies, Mitsubishi’s, Rolex’s, Dolphins, XTC.
What are the chances of getting hooked?
It’s possible to build up tolerance to E, which means people take more to get the same buzz. You may also develop a psychological dependence (the desire to keep on using even in spite of potential harm).
There’s some uncertainty about the long term side effects of Es. But evidence suggests it can cause damage to the brain causing long term problems â like depression, personality change and memory loss.
What is ecstasy?
Description of Ecstasy
This is often called the original designer drug because of its synonymous relationship with rave culture in the early 90s. Clubbers took ecstasy to stay awake and dance for hours. The effects take about half an hour to kick in and tend to last between 3 to 6 hours, followed by a gradual comedown.

If the only time you dance is at weddings, you have no idea what you are missing out on. First of all not only is dancing fun, it is also exercise! Think about your moving your feet, your arms, your twisting away and giving yourself a full body workout. Ever noticed how sometimes the day after a wedding, your body is a little sore, especially if you do not workout before hand? Celebrities, who take part in Dancing with The Stars, have reported an increase in weight loss. The most traditional way of getting a good dancing workout is to turn on some music and let yourself go and boogie down. It is also an excellent way to incorporate some bonding time with your kids too if you included them. There are days when Ill turn on the radio and me and my daughter will just dance our feet off.
There might be some of you, who are looking for something a little more structured and instruction. Not to worry there is something for you also. Gyms all around the world are starting to offer dancing classes. Starting off there is Cardio Salsa. This class if offered at The Crunch gyms nationwide or you can look for it on DVD. It is a low impact high intensity workout that combines the hottest Latin dances such as the cha-cha, mambo, samba and more with traditional dance steps such as the grapevine, lunges and arm raises. What women are loving about this workout is that they can take what they learn on the videos or classes and take it to a night club if they want to!
Cardio Capoeira is also becoming another popular dance workout. It was featured briefly on the cool down segments of the hit exercise video Turbo Jam, but has come out on its own as a great workout. In fact for fans of the hit Movie Oceans 12 might remember it being featured as the Night Fox dodges the lasers to get to the goods, or you might remember Catherine Zeta-Jones using a similar dance in the movie Entrapment. Cardio Capoeira is a basically a form of martial arts that is disguised as dancing. It was used to train Brazilian slaves martial arts without letting their captors know. It requires a lot of kicking, spinning and even cartwheels. What makes this workout so powerful especially on your buttocks and quads is the move the ginga which links one movement to the next so you will find yourself doing this often.
Cardio Striptease is another dance workout that is sweeping the nation. There are a number of DVDs out that offer a cardio striptease workout. This routine is part burlesque, part yoga, and part gymnastics. There are no concise steps and the whole point of the routine is to allow you to move freely and beautifully and learn to express yourself. You never have to worry about holding any sort of poses but move from one move to another by using slow moving hip and butt circles. The aim of this workout is to tone the hips, buttocks, thighs calves and abs.
Of course you can always go the more traditional route and sign up for ballroom dancing classes which will still give you a great workout. Which ever one of these you choose, you will burning fat and calories while having a great time. You wont even know you are exercising, thats how much fun you will have.

Basic Salsa Dance Steps
Author: admin
Mastering the basic step will be the first key step to developing proper technique and timing in salsa. Your spins and partner-work techniques will be executed in sync with the rhythm of the music once you have mastered your basic. Think of the basic step as the drummer in a band. It keeps you and your partner on time.
I encourage you to practice these steps at home but it goes with out saying that online instruction is no substitute for real time studio instruction. There are many finer elements of the basic step such as the cuban hip motion and arm work. What you get in a class that you don’t get from your computer is invaluable feedback from your instructor and the opportunity practice with other students. I hope this tutorial will get your feet moving but make sure to get the proper training by stopping by a studio salsa class.
Salsa music is played in 4/4 time and has 4 beats to the measure or bar. The basic step happens with in 2 measures or 8 counts. The Salsa Basic Step is danced as follows…
FOR THE LADIES
1. Step forward with your right foot on the first count
2. Step forward with your left foot on the second count
3. Step in place with your right foot on the third count
4. Pause on the fourth count
5. Step back with the left foot on the fifth count
6. Step back with the right foot on the sixth count
7. Step in place with the left foot on the seventh count
8. Pause on the eighth count
Repeat Step 1
FOR THE MEN
1. Step back with the left foot on the first count
2. Step back with the right foot on the second count
3. Step in place with the left foot on the third count
4. Pause on the fourth count
5. Step forward with your right foot on the fifth count
6. Step forward with your left foot on the sixth count
7. Step in place with your right foot on the seventh count
8. Pause on the eighth count
Repeat Step 1
Because of the pause on the 4th and 8th counts, salsa has a rhythmic feel of slow, quick, slow, – slow, quick, slow,
The Salsa Basic Dance Step is danced in closed position with the Man facing the Woman.
There are four points of contact between the Man and the Woman.
1.) The Leader takes the Follower’s Right Hand with his Left Hand.
2.) The Leader places his Right Hand on the Followers back.
3.) The Follower places her Left hand on the Leaders shoulder.
4.) The Leader and the Follower keep their chin up and maintain eye contact.
Now that you have your feet moving, make sure to enroll in salsa classes to get the experience of doing the basic step with different partners.

Street Dance
Author: admin
Britains Got Talent has started a street dance craze after Diversity and Flawless battled it out in the final. Up and down the country dance and theatre schools are seeing increased enquires for street dance lessons.
Street dance is a bit of an umbrella term and underneath it you have breakdance, popping, locking, krumping and so many different niche styles. What was was done on the streets as a social dance form, has now become more commercial in classes.
When a dancer pops, they jerk their body by quickly contracting and relaxing the muscles. The movements they make are correspondingly referred to as pops or hits. Locking refers to fast, exaggerated, movements which then freeze into a rigid position (a lock), whereas waving describes a more fluid style where movement appears to ripple through the limbs (as if a wave were traversing the dancer’s body). Krumping is characterised by free, expressive and energetic movement of the arms, legs, chest and head. Proponents of these different styles can correspondingly be described as poppers, lockers, wavers and krumpers. If you’d like to see these moves in action, check out the video in this article
Though the term was already established within youth/dance culture, recent media interest in ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winners Diversity and rival group Flawless seems to have now planted the expression firmly into mainstream British English.
Street dance is to gain even more exposure over the summer with a film to be shot in 3D. The team, alongside fellow TV contest finalists Flawless, were approached to be in the movie after they were spotted last year by the film’s producers at the UK Dance Championships. The film begins shooting in August and tells the story of a street dance crew who have to work alongside ballet dancers.
I hope you enjoyed reading my article, I own a local theatre school based in Romford and Brentwood. Types of classes offered are street dance, musical theatre and singing.
